Image to Video AI: How to Animate Images with AI
Turn any image into a video. Learn how to use image-to-video, start-to-end frames, and motion control to bring static images to life.
What is Image-to-Video AI?
Image-to-video AI takes a static image as input and generates a video with motion. The AI understands the content of the image — subjects, background, depth, lighting — and adds natural motion that makes sense for the scene.
This is one of the most powerful workflows in AI generation: you can first create the perfect image using text-to-image (with full control over composition, style, and details), then animate it with image-to-video for a polished result.
Image-to-Video Workflow
- 1
Create or Upload an Image
Generate an image with text-to-image, or upload any existing photo or artwork. The image quality and composition directly affect the video output.
- 2
Select I2V Mode
Open the generator and switch to Image to Video (I2V) mode. Upload your image as the input.
- 3
Add a Motion Prompt (Optional)
Write a prompt describing the motion you want: "camera slowly zooming in", "wind blowing through hair", "character turning head and smiling". Leave blank for automatic motion.
- 4
Set Duration
Choose the video length. Shorter clips (3-5 seconds) generally have better quality and coherence.
- 5
Generate
Click generate. The AI creates a video that preserves your image's look while adding natural motion.
Start-to-End Frames (S2E)
Start-to-end frame generation lets you define both the first and last frame of a video. The AI then generates the smooth transition between them. This gives you precise control over what happens in the video.
- -Scene transitions — morph from one scene to another (day to night, summer to winter)
- -Character animation — define a starting and ending pose for a character
- -Camera movement — define the start and end of a camera move
- -Object transformation — show an object changing shape or appearance
Tips for Better Image-to-Video Results
- 1.High-quality input — better images produce better videos. Use detailed, well-composed images.
- 2.Clear subjects — images with distinct subjects and backgrounds animate more naturally.
- 3.Avoid text in images — text in the source image often gets distorted during animation.
- 4.Guide with prompts — even a simple motion prompt improves results over leaving it blank.
- 5.Chain workflows — use T2I to create the image, I2V to animate it, then lip sync to add speech.
